In 1989 several Jewish families were interested in establishing a high quality Jewish day school for their children. They approached the Samuel Scheck Hillel Community Day School in North Miami Beach about opening a branch of their school in Boca Raton. After months of hard work, their efforts paid off and in September 1989 the Samuel Scheck Hillel Community Day School of Boca Raton opened its doors with forty-two students.
Hillel Day School of Boca Raton has grown tremendously. It currently serves students in pre-kindergarten (age 2) through grade 8.

When the doors to Pope John Paul II High School first opened in 1980, the Boca Raton area was part of the Archdiocese of Miami. Archbishop Edward McCarthy of Miami invited the Carmelite community to staff the high school.
